Kiss My Grits, Jurl

Sometimes I think it would be fun to be a waitress in a small diner. Specifically, I think it would be great to serve coffee. Such a simple yet fulfilling task. When I pour my coffee in the morning I pretend it's for one of my regular customers as I stand with my hand on my hip, dish towel tossed over my shoulder, witty retort hovering about my gum-smackin lips, and coffee pot arched just so to deliver the perfect cup of black gold. Is that weird?

Hmmm. Blame it on Alice. Growing up watching a show about sassy waitresses with super cute, pink uniforms and awesome name tags convinced me there was something cool about pouring coffee and delivering plates of steamy eggs and bacon to hungry customers.

Of course, cleaning up the half-eaten eggs and food remnants would make me gag and sometimes puke so that part I couldn't do, nor would I like standing on my feet all day. Oh, and I'd probably get most orders wrong and break at least one dish a day. Really, I just want to look cute and pour coffee. Is that too much to ask?

I want to be Flo, but I'm more like Vera.....
