It's Alive Jurls!

I live. The surgery went smoothly, but recovery has taken a little longer than I anticipated. For now let me just share a few observations:

Having CO2 pumped into your chest cavity results in chest and shoulder pain not unlike a spike going through your body.

In a small group of people it takes several days for the CO2 to work it's way out. Someone like me who is usually able to get rid of unwanted gas at the drop of a hat may be left desperate yet struggling to rip one to relive heart attack like chest pain.

Anaesthesia leaves a bad taste in my mouth making everything taste like ass and making me not eat for four days.

Not eating for four days because everything tastes like ass is not good for recovery.

Potato soup is one of the best things I've ever had in my life. I heard angels sing when I took the first bite.

They made five incisions circling my gut. Next year for Halloween I will wear a shirt with the center cut out, paint my stomach green, and go as Frankenstein.

My incisions are sealed with glue which is better than stitches, but makes me want to peel it off like a scab. Driving me crazy.

Having your Margaret while enduring all of this is a cruel twist of fate.

It hurts when I sneeze.

I can't pick up either kid for two weeks. Tubbs has forgotten he has a mother.

In general, I look like ass.

But, I'm starting to fell less like ass.

Thanks for all your well wishes. Of course I have a story or two to tell from surgery day, but I'll save it for another time.

Oh so good to hear from you! I have complete empathy for your gas pains. Two weeks after my hysto, I still felt like I was having a heart attack daily. It passed...finally! Can't wait to hear your stories. Would you mind sharing what type surgery it is you had? Lap or bypass or other?
