Kiss My Grits, Jurl

Sometimes I think it would be fun to be a waitress in a small diner. Specifically, I think it would be great to serve coffee. Such a simple yet fulfilling task. When I pour my coffee in the morning I pretend it's for one of my regular customers as I stand with my hand on my hip, dish towel tossed over my shoulder, witty retort hovering about my gum-smackin lips, and coffee pot arched just so to deliver the perfect cup of black gold. Is that weird?

Hmmm. Blame it on Alice. Growing up watching a show about sassy waitresses with super cute, pink uniforms and awesome name tags convinced me there was something cool about pouring coffee and delivering plates of steamy eggs and bacon to hungry customers.

Of course, cleaning up the half-eaten eggs and food remnants would make me gag and sometimes puke so that part I couldn't do, nor would I like standing on my feet all day. Oh, and I'd probably get most orders wrong and break at least one dish a day. Really, I just want to look cute and pour coffee. Is that too much to ask?

I want to be Flo, but I'm more like Vera.....

Take the Alice poll in the sidebar for waitress giggles.

Found your comments on LivingO to be too good to not come check out your blog. Love your writing! Thinking of blogging myself but I am NOT a writer in any sense of the word or even that insightful about things, so for now, I'll content myself with reading other peoples and try to feel good about it and not like some sort of modern day peeping tom (or teena). Blog on!

Oh, and have you ever read any Laurel Hamilton? Check her early work out as Anita Blake or Merry Gentry.

Hello bobono! I must confess that LivinO is the first and only blog I've become truly obsessed with (besides those of my dear friends, of course) and am waiting for LO to tell me to go away since all I want to do is be funny.

Thanks for the compliment. You should take the plunge and blog, blog, blog. You don't even have to tell anyone (thought, that's not much fun)! It does become a bit obsessive....

I've totally read all of Laurel Hamilton's stuff. I'm struggling with the latest Anita Blake novel because the sex has gotten ridiculous. And why do almost all the guys have super long hair and, as described, look like chicks? I think Anita will come out of the closet in a future book.

thanks for the memories. I used to love that show.

Beverly- Did you know it's based off of an old depressing movie called "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore?" The sitcom was way better, but then I'm a television kid.

You are exactly right about Hamilton's more recent work jurl. Several have been one chapter buildup to plot, 9 chapters sex I wouldn't have even wanted ONCE, and one final chapter to wrap up the first build up of plot. And if I have to read through one more fight with Richard...stfu already!

Anyway, thanks for sharing!
